Capacity Building & Practicum Program

TRAINING FOR PARTNER STAFF, CAREGIVERS, SERVICE PROVIDERS, CHILDREN'S NETWORK

In the past 10 years, WWO team have conducted and/or facilitated training, seminars, coaching, mentoring to approximately 1000 adults so that they can provide more appropriate care and effective services to children. These include partners staff, caregivers, children service providers, self-help group members, family members, community volunteers. It is the strength of the community that makes our program sustainable in its diversity and comprehensive approach.

Areas of Training

  • Medical intervention: Anti-retroviral treatment, STD, HIV-related issues, child care, CPR, emergency evacuation, medication management, Disability issues, POS therapy

  • Social work: Case management, Stress management for service providers, Disclosure for HIV-positive children, Family – Individual therapy, Access to School, Stigma and Discrimination

  • PsychoSocial Intervention: How to communicate with adolescent children, Problem solving

  • Child development & Education: Introduction to child developmental milestones, Appropriate nutrition & how to prepare a happy mealtime, Introduction to Pre-school skills, How to design and conduct child-focused activities for children with special needs, Camp concept and skills 

  • Monotoring and Evaluation:  Training for all partner staff on Logical Framework, Indicator Charts, Assessment tools, and M&E process

  • Project management & Organizational Development: Training for all partner staff on Project Cycle, Financial Management and Standard Operating Procedures for transparency, accountability and standardization

 

PRACTICUM PROGRAM FOR SOCIAL WORK, ANTHROPOLOGY, AND PSYCHOLOGY STUDENTS

In the past 5 years WWO Vietnam has provided opportunity for hundreds of national and international students and volunteers to come and work with the children and our partners.  We are thankful to the orphan rangers from the US, the UK and other countries, as well as students from leading universities of Vietnam who have been generous with their time, energy, knowledge and skills to make our programs a wonderful intercultural playground and workplace for all involved.

Introductory Program 

  • Practicum for 3rd Year Undergraduate Students:

  4. Recognition of services & Supervisor report
  • Internship for Final Year Undergraduate students:
  1. Assigning to case(s)
  2. Monitoring and Evalution 
  3. Training and Organizational skills 
  4. Recognition of services & Supervisor report
  • Volunteer work for Graduates or any Students not applying for practicum/internship :
  1. Prequesite interview and training are required for all volunteers.
  2. If accepted, volunteers can decide one or more services at WWO Center for Excellence, WWO partner’s institution, or at Camp seasons
