Camp Colors of Love (CCL)

Since 2008, Camp Colors of Love, a beautiful partnership between SeriousFun Children’s Network and Worldwide Orphans Vietnam, has been spreading joy and resilience to children facing serious illnesses. With unwavering support from SeriousFun, we’ve helped children “see beyond the limits of their medical conditions and embrace all that life has to offer.”

In the past 16 years, over 4,000 campers and 1,500 caregivers in Vietnam have joined a global community of more than one million participants across 30 countries. Together, we have created a magical village where everyone feels safe, respected, and loved.

Every year, Camp Colors of Love provides joyful camp experiences for 500 to 600 children facing various challenges. These camps aim to create moments of happiness and connection for children on long-term treatment, helping them overcome anxiety and restore resilience. For children living with serious, stigmatized illnesses, the camps focus on improving adherence, social connectedness, resilience, and fostering hope for a stigma-free future. Additionally, children with disabilities benefit from the camps by engaging in sensory, play-based activities to explore fun and learn new skills alongside their peers. WWO internal research work uncovered the profound impact of moments of happiness and connection on campers and families, leading to enhanced physical and mental health practices.

Children participate in the following camp events:

  • Residential summer camp: campers join their peers at a campsite for three to five days to enjoy various camp activities and learn new skills for adherence, resilience and social connectedness.
  • Follow up of residential camp: former campers and parents or caregivers are invited to go back to the campsite to reunite with their peers and catch up on how camp experiences impact their lives.
  • Family weekend camp: this camp event is designed for both campers and caregivers so that they can learn about camp impact and enjoy happy moments with their children.
  • In-hospital camp: we bring camp to bedsides of cancer pediatric patients or to hospital playrooms so that children in treatment can enjoy happy, memorable moments with their caregivers.

The WWO Camp Colors of Love team has made significant progress, thanks to the unwavering financial and technical support from SeriousFun. Together, we are fostering a community where children are the top priority, backed by generous donors, dedicated volunteers, and compassionate healthcare providers. The collaboration with local orphanages and hospitals plays a vital role, and their support is continuously strengthening. Through the invaluable insights gained from childcare shelters and hospital staff members who have embraced our camp’s magic after receiving training, the future of camp practices is bright.

Camp Colors of Love works with stakeholders toward SDG 3, which aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all, at all ages. Health and well-being are important at every stage of one’s life, starting from the beginning.
